About The PARK DALE PLAYERS:

The Park Dale Players has been a fixture in North County Children's theater for the last 25 years. Beginning as a company of adults performing original plays for children and teaching drama workshops in the schools, PDP began its student musical theater program in the Encinitas School District in the fall of 1999. Since then, we have produced four original musicals a year, all of them written by PDP's own playwright Pat Lydersen, with music by our composer Wendy Woolf. With Lydersen and theater veteran Judy Campbell directing, Woolf as musical director, and Joanna Lydersen adding her talents as a choreographer, this program has provided hundreds of students the opportunity to hone their acting, singing, and dancing skills, and to experience the excitement of working with others to present a polished performance on stage.

More About Our EUSD Program:

We run our program in the Encinitas School District during their fall, spring and summer breaks. During these two week periods, we rehearse and perform a full scale musical. Rehearsals run Monday through Friday from 9 until 12 for the drama and singing segment of the program and, after a half hour supervised lunch break, the dance segment runs from 12:30 until 2:00. Performances, complete with full costume, props, sets and lighting, are on Friday and Saturday evenings of the last weekend. The Fall and Spring sessions of this program are open to 3rd through 6th graders. The Summer session is open to 3rd through 10th graders.
Starting in the 2010/2011 school year, we have also begun offering a program as part of EUSD's After-School Enrichment Program. Meeting once a week after school, students can either participate in a sixteen week session, culminating in a performance at the end of the final week, or in an eight week musical theater workshop.

Register Now For Our After-School Programs!

Tell-A-Tale Theater (Grades K-2)
We're now beginning a new after-school program for the younger student.  This class will focus not only on teaching children the basics of drama and dance, but also on developing their natural imaginative skills. Each class will center around a grade appropriate story which students will bring to life through theater games, improvisations, movement exercises, and role-playing.  A final presentation to parents will be included. We will meet on Wednesday afternoons at Flora Vista beginning on January 25th.  Like our program for older students, children in all EUSD schools can sign up. Please email pat@theparkdaleplayers.com to see if there's still space in this program.

Musical Theater Workshop (Grades 3-6)
We're taking registrations now for the first of our two eight-week after-school Musical Theater Workshops.  This workshop utilizes theater games, improvs, and vocal and movement exercises as a fun and energetic way to help students interested in musical theater to develop their acting, singing and dancing skills. There will be two locations for this workshop which begins the week of January 23rd-- Mondays at Flora Vista and Thursdays at El Camino Creek. Students in grades 3-6  from all EUSD schools can sign up for either one.  For more information, to download the registration form, or to sign up via PayPal, please click here.
